QTAKE Pro 2.4 expands the creative toolkit for on-set editing and VFX previews, focusing on faster decisions and richer visual feedback. At its core is the completely revamped Multitrack Editor, now supporting advanced layering and live compositing. New tools in DVE FX and False Color FX enhance the ability to create and evaluate visuals directly on set. The update also introduces powerful monitoring upgrades – Immersive Stream for live 3D video, Script Coverage for smarter clip navigation – and launches QTAKE Academy, a built-in training platform to help users master QTAKE’s full potential.
The new Multitrack Editor empowers directors, DPs, and VFX supervisors to make fast, informed creative decisions on set. It offers precise continuity checks and editing using familiar tools like Ripple, Roll, Slip, and Slide. With support for multitrack layering, blend modes, track mattes, and live compositing, it enables flexible pre-visualization, multi-pass compositing, and live VFX previews – using independent views that won’t disrupt monitoring or playback.
QTAKE Pro 2.4 introduces keyframe-based FX Animation, adding dynamic transformations to DVE effects. Changes between keyframes are automatically interpolated, enabling smooth transitions like zooms and pans. This unlocks new creative possibilities for on-set VFX previews and real-time composites, now supported across segments, tracks, and sequences in the new Multitrack Editor.
A smarter way to track production: Script Coverage ensures no scenes, lines, or angles are missed. Clips can be searched instantly via a new script filter, and scripts are parsed directly from PDF. Version handling is seamless, allowing teams to adapt quickly to last-minute script changes.

Version 2.0 marks an immense milestone in development of QTAKE, with the new licensing model and substantial under-the-hood improvements. Application name has been changed to QTAKE Pro not just to emphasize its dedication to filmmaking professionals, but also to mark the beginning of the tighter collaboration with its user base, in the form of a public roadmap, voting for features, educational webinars as well as premium technical support, which is essential to any flawless product use.
Apple Silicon has brought the next level of performance and thermal management to Mac computers. With QTAKE Pro, which runs natively on M1 Mac computers using universal-binary code, this new powerful platform can be used to its full extent, dismissing limitations imposed by previous architecture. Learn more.
All video assist operators know how frustrating it is to wait for the camera to cut in order to provide playback. Not any more! With the Instant Playback feature, you can start playback as soon as the director asks for it, even if the camera is still rolling. QTAKE will record the rest of the take in the background so you can have edit-ready proxy files exactly matching the camera recording, including off-speed shots up to 60 fps. Learn how to set up Instant Playback.
QTAKE Pro includes support for single sign-on via the SAML protocol, allowing productions to create QTAKE Cloud accounts for QTAKE Pro operators from their central account management system. This removes the need for manual account registration and activation, while simultaneously giving productions more control over the accounts used to access confidential content. To participate in the program, administrators should create a support ticket. Because QTAKE Cloud is part of the Okta Integration Network, productions using Okta can benefit from a more streamlined setup process.
Working towards our goal of expanding the QTAKE ecosystem beyond the realm of video assist, we are adding support for Blackmagic RAW media to the existing fleet of supported camera formats from ARRI, Canon, RED, and Sony. This will allow you to effortlessly create on-set dailies from increasingly popular Blackmagic Design cameras as well as to render the highest quality proxy media for remote collaboration through QTAKE Cloud or Moxion.
The most popular PRO module is now included with every streaming QTAKE Pro license, including QTAKE Pro Live. Custom-bundle discounts allow the customers to create any combination of modules and each additional module will lower the price of the bundle by 5% up to a total of 30%. In addition to daily, weekly and monthly rates, new 1-year and 3-year license options are now available.
Important: dongle license users will need to update to dongle driver version 8.31. See the release newsletter for instructions or contact support.
The new Io X3 video card from AJA Video Systems is now supported as a full-duplex 2-channel video device (limited to a single output format).
In addition to passthrough codec released in the previous version, QTAKE can now capture camera metadata processed by ScreenPort, which makes it one of the most portable USB-powered 3G-SDI capture card suitable for professional video assist work.
When recording input from ScreenPort SDI or another QTAKE, users can now select “Passthrough” codec option, which will store the video track in the native codec of the stream. This will save a considerable amount of storage and processing power to allow more portable systems to be used for multi-channel video assist.
Similar to QTAKE Monitor, QTAKE Video Assist now takes advantage of the sophisticated stream receiving engine, which provides a smooth result even with suboptimal network conditions. Learn more.
Most of the new functionality in QTAKE 1.6 is dedicated to streaming. QTAKE Stream was designed specifically for professional filmmakers and gained worldwide praise for its ultra-low latency, frame-based metadata support, and studio-grade security. Now we are taking it to a new level with the following features:
QTAKE Cloud Stream is now available for PC and Android devices. This update delivers the first-class streaming experience to any device with WebRTC support. And that’s not all. If you use Moxion, QTAKE Cloud Stream is now also available directly in the Moxion web interface as a live clip. Learn more.
Introducing the new, simplified, stream-only version of QTAKE. In addition to multi-camera input and streaming, it provides real-time image processing, such as geometric transformations or color-grading. Simplified interface and budget-friendly pricing. Learn more.
Experience the ultimate remote grading with QTAKE Cloud Stream HDR. In many cases, clients cannot attend editing or color-grading sessions in person and cannot rely on exported clips because of the slow turn-around. QTAKE offers a solution for interactive and effective remote grading thanks to its high-quality, low-latency streaming of Dolby Vision enabled content. Learn more.
The new add-on module for four 4K camera support. It provides four-channel recording, playback, image processing, compositing, live editing. All in full 4K resolution. Learn more.
This is the minimum version required to connect to QTAKE Cloud Stream as of June 20, 2021. Earlier versions are no longer able to connect.
If you need to stream the highest quality possible, but your CPU cannot handle the workload, we have a solution. QTAKE can now use hardware acceleration to encode 10-bit HEVC in real time. This is especially useful for remote color grading or any other color-critical stream monitoring. Accelerated 10-bit encoding requires macOS Big Sur and supported Mac hardware.
When working on a location with limited internet bandwidth, you can use QTAKE network bonding as a solution. Bonding multiple slow connections can create one fast connection, sufficient to handle the bitrate of your outgoing streams. But instead of getting a dedicated bonding router and paying extra for this service, you can now use built-in network bonding in QTAKE, free of charge.
One of the exciting new features in QTAKE is the Direct Stream Mode, licensed via the PRO module. This mode will attempt to connect your QTAKE system directly to clients, avoiding the need for QTAKE Cloud relay. Direct Stream Mode is a perfect solution for remote editing and grading sessions, where streaming is not limited by upload bandwidth. In case the direct connection is successful, post houses can stream high-quality 4K content without paying for stream data.
Many video operators have already experienced live audio privacy issues. The sound mixer usually captures audio even when not recording – picking up an on-set conversation that was not intended for remote clients. This new option in QTAKE stream setup lets you avoid this issue by setting live audio to “Record Only” mode. This way, all sound captured between takes will be muted to avoid embarrassing moments.
This version of QTAKE comes with packet loss correction, which dramatically improves local and remote streaming on poor-quality networks. This preference is turned on by default and requires QTAKE Monitor version 4.2.5 for iOS/macOS or version 1.1 for tvOS.
Another important streaming addition is HEVC (H.265) support and hardware-accelerated proxy encoding on supported Mac configurations. While 8-bit and HW encoding is included in the BASE module, the 10-bit HEVC encoder requires STREAM and PRO modules.
Welcome the new OSD view effect which provides a real-time display of any clip, crew, or project metadata. It uses the same templates as the Burn-In effect found in QTAKE’s unique pipeline rendering engine, to allow efficient interoperability between live processing, playback, and export.
Streaming UI has got new GROUP functionality which allows you to control multiple clients using a single streaming slot. Additionally, you can now enable or disable stream views per client to send only specific views to the agency, while streaming all other views to your crew.
The new pay-per-data pricing model is effective as of April 29, 2020. QTAKE Server license is no longer required, data credits are being used instead. Streaming data can be purchased in the QTAKE Rental Shop. Prices range from $20 for 10 GB to $15,000 for 20 TB of data. Purchased data never expires.
One of the exciting new features of QTAKE is the SCREEN input, which can be used to record or stream the content of your main monitor. This can be useful if you want to share your QTAKE UI, but you can also hide QTAKE and capture the UI of other apps running on your desktop.
We are introducing a completely new UI for inviting cloud stream clients. No more copying links. Just enter the client’s email and QTAKE Cloud will take care of the rest: it will send a smartly composed email with addressed content and push notification, if applicable.
The Stream Setup window will now show you the current cloud stream bitrate and the maximum of the last two minutes. Compare this value to your internet upload speed and adjust stream encoder quality or resolution accordingly.
Most of the functionality in QTAKE version 1.5 is geared towards the DIT workflow providing a new processing engine and future-proof database design, compatible with QTAKE Cloud. If you are upgrading from QTAKE version 1.4, please note that the database will be migrated to a new model (910a to 921) during the first start of QTAKE 1.5. Migration is a safe process, which preserves all users and projects.
With this update, the activation of QTAKE Cloud Sync is simplified and a matter of seconds. Get enough credits for your project, upload it to QTAKE Cloud, and activate or deactivate Cloud Sync when you're ready, in a single click. Learn more.
QTAKE Server 2.3 and QTAKE Monitor 4.5 bring a simplified approach to access control and are solely based on user roles, dropping device management entirely. These new releases are setting off a series of changes planned for QTAKE Server, which will gradually introduce a more user-friendly design and use. Learn more.
Invitations improve upon the established workflow of sharing project links by allowing QTAKE Server administrators to approve users ahead of time. Invited users get a personalized email with instructions depending on their QTAKE Cloud registration and activation status. Once they successfully connect and open the project, they are granted access without any further interaction from the administrator. Even better, you can now invite users by sending them a link to your central server or QTAKE Cloud Sync, direct from your on-set QTAKE Server installation.
As part of our ongoing efforts to simplify our product portfolio, we are announcing price changes to the CENTRAL module and discontinuation of the MULTI module, effective Aug 4, 2025. This decision is part of a broader initiative to focus on core solutions that deliver the best value to our customers and align with the evolving needs of modern film production workflows. We appreciate your continued support and for any questions regarding this update, please contact our support team.
NDI® (Network Device Interface) is a video streaming protocol used to transmit audio and video easily over a local network. General NDI input and output in QTAKE Pro require the STREAM module or the NDI module. However, advanced NDI functionality, such as HDR output, specifically requires the NDI module.
To celebrate the release of QTAKE Pro 2.4, we’re offering an exclusive 24% discount on all 3-year QTAKE Pro plans and 3-year Pro Upgrades until August 24, 2025. The QTAKE Pro calculator now also displays the "2.4 Special" price of any selected 3-year QTAKE Pro plan.
The streaming data used as a consumable for QTAKE Cloud streaming is now called the Credits and can be used as a currency for both services – QTAKE Cloud Stream and QTAKE Cloud Sync. Credits have the same benefits you’re used to – credits don’t expire, they can be transferred to another QTAKE ID, you can purchase credits in bulk with a higher discount and see usage details under your account in the QTAKE Rental Shop. Any streaming data residing on your account has been converted to Credits using the formula “1 GB of streaming data = 1 credit”.
In addition to the current "Flat" model with fixed weekly and monthly pricing, the new QTAKE Cloud Sync update introduces a new “Flexi” model which grows with your needs. Cloud Sync Flexi uses variable daily charges, calculated and deducted according to your storage usage and number of collaborators. License is automatically renewed each day, until deactivated. The Flexi model is usage-based and therefore makes the QTAKE Cloud Sync service accessible even for smaller or shorter projects.
We've added two new "Cloud Sync Flat" and "Cloud Sync Flexi" calculators to the Credits Purchase page. The Cloud Sync Flat calculator uses the combination of flat weekly and monthly rental rates and number of one-off credits needed for the given period of time. The Cloud Sync Flexi calculator uses a combination of storage and collaborators to estimate the number of credits needed over the given period of time.
