According to recent findings, installing the latest macOS update while disabling the ProMotion technology may lead to a severe system malfunction.
Disabling the ProMotion technology reverts the display refresh rate to 60 Hz, which is a recommended setting when using a QOD+. When the latest macOS is installed and ProMotion disabled, the subsequent restart may brick your MacBook. This issue concerns macOS updates Sonoma 14.1, Ventura 13.6, or Monterey 12.7 and MacBook models 14” and 16” of 2021 or 2023.
Until Apple addresses and resolves this issue, please refrain from installing macOS updates 14.1, 13.6, and 12.7.
We will update this page to keep you informed about the remediation progress.
Update as of Nov 8, 2023
It is safe to install the new macOS updates Sonoma 14.1.1 and Ventura 13.6.2.
